Production, distribution and storage

Oils and fats from vegetable, animal, or microbial sources are generally not suitable for direct use in conventional high-speed diesel engines. However, they can be converted into compatible diesel fuels through processes such as esterification, which produces fatty acid esters (biodiesel), or hydrotreatment, which creates paraffins (renewable diesel). For further information regarding their production, distribution, and storage, the following pages can be consulted.
